After GREE announced they will open an office in Singapore “this spring” (which never happened, but they are partnering with mig33 there), DeNA followed suit today: the company just announced the establishment of DeNA Asia in Singapore to drive forward the expansion of Mobage to other markets.
The office will start operations as early as September 1 and “work with developers in Southeast and South Asia to bring high-quality social mobile games to smartphone users worldwide”. DeNA Asia will be lead by Managing Director Tetsuya Mori who, until recently, was the VP of business development in Asia for DeNA proper.
In Asia, DeNA already has offices in China and Korea.
It’s now interesting to see that DeNA seems to try to bring Mobage to users in South East Asia by themselves – in sharp contrast to GREE, which has decided early to partner up with the region’s biggest standalone mobile social network mig33.
