GREE Gets Console Hit Game “Yakuza” From Sega

G

GREE today announced the launch of a new potential hit game: “Ryuu Ga Gotoku Mobile” is the name of the social game version of Ryuu Ga Gotoku, a famous action-adventure series that started in 2005 on the Sony PS2.

The video game version is known as “Yakuza” in the US and other places. For GREE, maker Sega (obviously) needed to make drastic changes in terms of game play, graphics and audio.

Ryuu Ga Gotoku as a brand, however, is so well known (4 million copies sold worldwide) that GREE has another hit title in their hands here. As usual, the game is free to play and will be monetized via sales of virtual items.
