DeNA’s Drops Mobagetown Brand Name, Switches To “Mobage” [Social Games]

“Mobagetown” is no more: earlier today, DeNA‘s rebranding of its mobile social game platform to just “Mobage” (short for mobile games) came into effect. In addition, Yahoo Mobagetown, the PC social gaming site DeNA operates in cooperation with Yahoo Japan, is now called “Yahoo Mobage”.

As reported last month, DeNA tries to consolidate its branding and also hopes the new brand name will be more suitable for international markets. Mobage will be used in Japan and abroad – in their local market, DeNA dropped the Japanese characters in the brand name (Mobagetown was partially written in Katakana characters).
