Tokyo-Based Social Game Developer “ONE Of THEM” Raises US$3.9 Million [Social Games]

More VC money is flowing into Japan’s social gaming sector: ONE of THEM, a mobile social games company established in Tokyo in January this year, has just raised a total of 300 million yen (US$3.9 million).

The investors are Globis Capital Partners and Infinity Ventures. One of Them focuses on developing social games for Japanese feature phones as well as smartphones. The company opened a “marketing center” in Singapore last month.

Kounosuke Takeishi, the CEO, was previously leading the Ameba Pigg business at CyberAgent. His company’s first social game, farming/city-building simulation Umi No Ue No Kame No Nouen (“A farm on top of a turtle on the sea”), was released for Ameba on feature phones back in June and currently counts 560,000 players (pictured below).
