Tokyo-Based Social Game Maker gumi Goes Global [Social Games]

T

Tokyo-based gumi, one of the biggest 3rd party social game makers in Japan (and a GREE investee), is ready to go global, it seems.

The company has appointed Masaru Ohnogi as the senior executive manager for its foreign business segment. Ohnogi launched gaming company Grest America in the US in 2010 (here is an English interview with him from that year).

gumi has a number of hit games running on GREE, including titles co-developed with EA or Capcom.

gumi’s counterpart on Mobage, gloops (an equally successful 3rd-party developer, which – like gumi – focuses on card battle games), has started its international business late last year.
