Mobage Gets “Marvel: War of Heroes” Card Battle Game [Social Games]

M

Following the deal with Hasbro to bring Transformers to Mobage, DeNA has now unveiled details about its previously announced Marvel game.

In a nutshell, Marvel: War of Heroes will be exclusively available on Mobage in the form of a social card battle game. DeNA and Marvel Entertainment promise “original art” and “a brand-new narrative”.

DeNA explains:

In Marvel: War of Heroes, players step into the shoes of a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and team up with iconic Marvel Heroes to battle evil. The Marvel: War of Heroes story is a completely original script, written in cooperation with Marvel. Players recruit classic characters from Spider-Man to Hulk to Iron Man, evolve and fuse powers and abilities to build stronger teams  and challenge the most dangerous foes. New characters and events will be added on a regular basis, ensuring a continually evolving gameplay experience.

Mobage users can already pre-register for the game, which will be released “soon” on iOS and Android, and get a special card. Pre-registration for Japanese users started today, too (the aforementioned Transformers game will not be released over here).

It’s a clever strategy to combine the learnings of the success of Rage Of Bahamut with a globally popular IP: as I mentioned so often earlier, prepare for a flood of Japanese-style card battle games in the next few months.

In fact, the game is under development at CyberAgent subsidiary Cygames, the company that created Rage Of Bahamut.
