Japan Gets Social Horse Racing Game Magazine [Social Games]

J

When do you know a country’s gaming market has gone into overdrive? When a publisher goes and introduces a printed magazine entirely dedicated to social horse racing games (yes, those exist).

Keiba Keita Game Collection (“Mobile Horse Racing Game Collection”), which is available right now in Japan for 680 Yen (Amazon Japan link), is featuring a total of ten social horse racing games currently offered on Mobage and GREE.

These games can be called niche, but some of these titles have a fanatic user base. Just one example: four weeks ago, Tokyo-based Drecom saw its social horse racing game “Legendary Derby King” shoot up to the No. 1 spot on Mixi’s ranking of the most popular games.

Keiba Keita Game Collection is sold by Enterbrain, the publishing company behind the world’s biggest video game magazine Famitsu.
